Ahead of local elections on 6 May 2021, the Liberal Democrats have pledged to look after our streets, keep the environment tidy and reduce flooding.
The Group’s plan for transforming the streets and neighbourhoods of Milton Keynes is set out in their forward-thinking manifesto for the May elections:
Lib Dem Shadow Cabinet member for the Environment, Cllr Vanessa McPake, said; “The key to stopping any flooding is to maintain all the waterways and to clear out all the key drains. The Lib Dems have been working hard to ensure that most are now maintained well, we just need the government’s Environment Agency to dredge all their main rivers”
“The trial of the wheelie bins has been very successful. There have been a few issues with properties that have no room for wheelie bins eg some terraced houses and most flats, so we will listen to those residents and sort out what is best for them”, Vanessa continued.
On crime, Lib Dem Councillor Jenni Ferrans added; “We have made a good start this year, with good partnership working to divert our young people from gangs, and to tackle the gangs that are operating. We now need to build on that, involving even more community groups to offer our young people more positive activities, and to continue sharing intelligence with the relevant agencies to combat these gangs.”Leave a comment
